Our carers

Our carers are right at the heart of everything we do. Learn more about our wonderful care team, and how we support them to provide the very best care, every day.

Exceptional care, incredible carers

Providing truly excellent care is about more than meeting daily needs. It’s about building trust, nurturing independence, and supporting people to live life on their own terms.

Our carers go above and beyond to provide outstanding support and companionship, whether delivering expert round-the-clock complex care or simply sharing a cup of tea and a chat.

That’s why we’re committed to supporting them just as much as they support you. By ensuring our carers feel valued, we create an environment where high-quality care can thrive. Because when we have incredible carers, you receive exceptional care.

Recruiting the best carers

We recruit, train, and support all of our carers directly. This allows us to maintain the highest standards of care, while ensuring every carer shares the values needed to provide safe, compassionate support. Only 2% of prospective carers pass our recruitment process, including a situational judgement test.

As part of our recruitment process, our carers:

  • Must have a minimum of six months’ professional care experience
  • Complete enhanced DBS checks
  • Take part in a thorough interview and vetting process

Comprehensive in-house training

Before joining your home, every carer completes our comprehensive four-day training programme. Taught by in-house experts, it’s designed to assess their practical abilities, as well as their dedication towards delivering high-quality care.

Our training modules include:

  • Medication management
  • Moving and handling
  • Dementia
  • Safeguarding
  • Urinalysis
  • Personal care
  • Report writing and daily care notes

Through structured training, we ensure our carers have the knowledge and confidence to provide safe, effective care from their very first placement.

Proud to be different from care agencies

We’re proud of the high standards we set at The Good Care Group. Unlike many traditional care agencies, we recruit and train our carers directly, rather than relying on temporary staff or external providers. This allows us to maintain consistent standards, support our carers properly, and deliver a more reliable and personalised care experience.

Hear from one of our carers

I began my journey in live-in care over 30 years ago after a friend suggested I try care work, and I quickly discovered how rewarding it was to make a real difference in someone’s life. Over the years I’ve often supported many clients on long-term placements, which allows me to truly get to know the person I’m caring for. It usually takes a few weeks to understand someone’s routines, preferences, and personality, but once you do, you can adapt your care to help them live the best life possible in their own home. Every client is different, and that’s what makes this role so special. Each person teaches you something new, and I feel grateful for the experiences and relationships I’ve built along the way.

Sabah Shah

Clinical Lead, The Good Care Group

"I’m Sabah, the Clinical Lead for the Good Care Group. I joined The Good Care Group in August 2024 and bring over nine years of experience in health and social care. My career in healthcare started with a simple goal: to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Round-the-clock support and guidance

Our carers always have access to their dedicated care managers, who provide expert advice, reassurance, and practical guidance whenever it’s needed.

That means your carer is always backed by a wider team of experts, rather than working alone, ensuring they can deliver care that’s safe, effective, and tailored to your needs.

This approach helps our carers to feel confident in their role and ensures you and your family receive the best support possible.

Specialist support, from highly-skilled carers

We are passionate about helping our carers become the very best they can be. To support this, we continually expand our specialist training through a mix of e-learning, virtual learning, and face-to-face courses.

These programmes cover a wide range of health conditions, helping our teams stay at the forefront of best practice in care. This commitment to ongoing learning ensures our carers have the skills needed to support people with complex or evolving care needs.

What our clients say

“Catherine provides truly excellent care for my mum. She has exceptionally high standards, in terms of hygiene, providing a healthy diet and maintaining a positive lifestyle for my mum. She communicates effectively with health professionals and other carers. Ultimately Catherine cares for my mum as if she were her own. Indeed, Catherine epitomises care, it is her vocation without a doubt. We feel very fortunate to have her with us.”

Carers, perfectly matched to you

We believe the bond between a carer and the person they support is the foundation of high-quality care.

During recruitment, we take the time to understand each carer – not just their experience, but their personality, interests, and values. This helps us identify individuals who will make a genuine difference in your life.

When arranging care, we use this insight to carefully match carers with clients based on compatibility, shared interests, and specialist experience. The result is a supportive relationship built on trust, familiarity, and understanding.
