Helping Others Get Active in August

August has always been a very active month for The Good Care Group. Each day, all of the teams would receive an email that contained guidance and inspiration with the aim of getting everyone moving – and to encourage carers to get clients moving too as this has many health benefits.

It was lovely to see the positive feedback and inspiring stories we received from our carers, who had managed to either increase their own activity levels, or helped their clients to get active. Below you’ll read what our carers shared about their experience this August.

Edwina (Professional Carer):
“I feel like a new person since I arrived back from placement after taking a walk during my breaks, totally ready to go again! I have even set myself the Yorkshire 3 peak challenge in September!”

Dolores (Professional Carer):
“As my client had a fall last October, she had lost the ability to walk with the frame and has been mainly indoors. A couple of weeks ago (after an OT assessment) I went out of the house with my clients to have fresh air. This and changing scenarios makes it so good for the soul”.

It doesn’t stop there. The Central Office team also got involved by going on a lunchtime walk around the local area in London and attended a 30 minute yoga session.

It is wonderful to see that our Active in August campaign increased the commitment of many of our teams to learn what works for each individual. Thank you to all who contributed to a very meaningful, collaborative and active month.
