Types of home care we provide in Maida Vale

When you’re looking for the right type of home care for yourself or a loved one, we know how difficult it can be to try and decipher between the different options available. The Good Care Group is proud to offer both live-in care and hourly care to our clients in the Maida Vale area. Find out more about these two types of home care below.

Hourly care in Maida Vale

tips-and-visitstips-and-visitsMany people choose to have care throughout the week at times that suit them, which enables you to have flexibility and choice. Hourly care from our team in Maida Vale will do exactly that, whilst supporting your wishes, independence and helping you to achieve anything you want to.

Just as the name suggests, hourly care is typically delivered in hourly visits, but can be longer if you require additional support or have a social event that you would like your carer to accompany you to.

Our hourly carers will typically support clients with personal care, medication management, and household duties, such as cleaning, vacuuming, laundry and taking the bins out, as well as accompanying you to the shops or, if your mobility is a little unsteady, going to the shops on your behalf to collect your weekly groceries.

Additionally, carers can assist with taking you to appointments, running errands, such as collecting prescriptions and even ensure your beloved pet is cared for. So, if you have a canine companion who needs a regular walk, or a feline friend who needs feeding, our carers can ensure they are looked after, too.

Live-in care in Maida Vale

For a direct alternative to residential care, live-in care is fast becoming the care type of choice for many people who are living with a health condition and require everyday support.
improving-health-outcomesimproving-health-outcomes
As the name suggests, a professional carer will live with you in your home and be on hand to provide consistent, expert care to you whenever you should need it. This could be with administering medications, such as tablets, creams and lotions, assistance with personal care, such as continence care, bathing and getting dressed, and completing household tasks, such as doing the washing, changing the beds and keeping everything neat and tidy – just as you like it.

Having a dedicated carer living with you means that you will get to know each other well and spend a lot of time together, which is why we take great care in selecting the best match for both of you. So, if you’re living with any health conditions, such as motor neurone disease and love anything to do with canals and boats, we’ll endeavour to find a carer that has experience in your health condition but who also has a love for everything maritime and will enjoy accompanying you on a visit to Little Venice just as much as you will.

Why choose home care from The Good Care Group?

We believe that there is nowhere better to be than in your own home, which is why we are dedicated to providing the very best home care across England and Scotland. As the only live-in care provider to be awarded with an ‘Outstanding’ rating by the CQC, we are incredibly proud to be keeping as many people as possible living in their own home with our exceptional care.

Jessica Monaghan

Hourly Regional Manager,

I’m Jessica, Hourly Care Manager for The Good Care Group. I first joined the company in 2019 as a Live-in Care Manager, which I did for two years before leaving to start up an hourly care service for a franchise provider in North London. I rejoined The Good Care Group in 2022 as the Hourly Care Manager.

As Hourly Care Manager, my role involves working alongside our client services team, assessing new clients, creating robust care plans and risk assessments of their needs and working alongside the scheduling team to find a suitable match of carer for each client to ensure that their care is set up to achieve the best outcomes. I may also need to work alongside our Occupational Therapist or Consultant Admiral Nurse when setting up more complex care placements. My role varies day to day, and a lot of what I do involves supporting my team of carers and my clients with whatever the day brings.

My career in health and social care started in 2010. Since then, I have worked in various roles including as a carer, care scheduler, care supervisor, care manager and registered care manager.

As part of my role, I need to complete regular calls to check in and stay up to date with my care team and clients. Every three months, my care team is called for supervision and clients have visits and monitoring calls to ensure that they are happy with the care being provided to them. Clients also have six-monthly or monthly reviews of their care. If there are incidents or accidents, I provide support to them to ensure the safety of everyone involved, ensuring to review risk assessments and care plans to prevent future occurrences. I also work with the training team and support carers with their career development. My role is to ensure that the care team feels supported and clients are happy with the care and support that they are receiving.

I hold a Level 5 in Health and Social Care and have supported individuals with a wide range of needs including dementia, palliative care, Parkinson’s, cancer, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, learning disabilities, autism, mental health and neurological conditions.

Alongside my Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management, I also hold a Level 3 in Education and Training, BILD Assessors qualification and an Open University qualification in Autism Awareness. I am a first aid instructor, moving and handling instructor and medication trainer. I believe that training is a vital part of the care role and continual development ensures the individuals that we support get the quality care they need.

I have witnessed both obstacles and successes within the sector and seen first-hand what difference can be made whether big or small in someone's life. I believe that the journey I have taken from starting as a carer to becoming a manager has allowed me to understand what support needs to be provided not only to the individuals we support, but the amazing carers that are providing it. I understand the importance of ensuring the highest quality of care is delivered, and enjoy leading and encouraging my team to work towards the best possible outcomes. I am an experienced care manager and have managed both hourly and live-in care in a home care setting. I have been able to see the benefits of people receiving care in their own home and remaining at home.

I am very proud of the journey I have been on to get to where I am currently in my career. I feel proud of my development and that I have been able to witness everything I have along the way from a carer to a manager.

Services we offer in Maida Vale

Different to a care agency in Maida Vale

Care agencies in Maida Vale are not always regulated by the CQC and tend to be an introductory agency, whereby carers are introduced to clients, with the client then expected to manage the carer, their time, paperwork and pay. With The Good Care Group, we directly employ every single one of our professional carers, providing them with industry-leading training, company benefits and a high standard of pay. Furthermore, we’re a fully-managed care provider, so we’ll ensure you’re never left in the lurch without care if your regular care is absent, which is something you would have to mitigate yourself if you used a care agency. Choosing hourly care in Maida Vale from The Good Care Group means that you won’t have any of these worries and can rest assured safe in the knowledge that everything has been thought of and organised.

Private care in Maida Vale

Private care at home needn’t be full-time, round-the-clock care for those with complex care needs. Although that is something our professional carers in Maida Vale can cater for, we can also assist with accompanying you out and about in the local area, helping you to keep in touch with friends and provide companionship from a friendly, familiar face. If you struggle to complete all of the household tasks like you used to, or if you’re slightly unsteady on your feet and need some assistance with making your favourite meals, our private carers can help and take the weight off your shoulders.

How-we-provide-live-in-care

Expert dementia care in Maida Vale

Since 2009, we have been providing dedicated dementia care for our clients across England and Scotland, ensuring that they are safe and well in their own homes for as long as possible. We have a dedicated dementia expert, Dr Jane Pritchard, who is a Consultant Admiral Nurse. Developed by Dementia UK, Admiral Nurses are healthcare professionals that specialise in the support and care delivery of those living with dementia. Jane is able to support our clients with more complex dementia care needs, ensuring they have the right care, medication and funding in place to meet their needs.

Receiving dementia care at home is often a preferred option because it limits any upheaval of moving from your home comforts, partner or pet. It also allows you to get one-to-one care that is bespoke for your specific needs, something that is difficult to replicate in most nursing homes. Ensuring you are kept in a familiar environment surrounded by the things and people you love the most and adhering to your routines can be extremely beneficial to someone living with dementia, as it reduces any extra confusion or worry and allows you to retain as much independence as possible.

Help around the home with domiciliary care

Domiciliary care from our friendly team in Maida Vale is delivered in a way that is meaningful to you – whether that’s a visit twice a week to assist you with washing your hair and doing your laundry, or if you require regular calls throughout the day to help you get out of bed, get dressed and support you with prescribed medication. And if your needs change and you require additional support, our care plans are completely flexible and will adapt around you and your needs. This type of support is beneficial not only for the individual receiving it, but for loved ones who perhaps live quite a distance away and are unable to pop in very often, giving them the added reassurance that their loved one is being cared for in their own home.

Respite care for a short-term care solution

Being a caregiver for a family member or friend has lots of benefits, including continuity of care and care from someone that is familiar to you and knows your routines. However, it is important that you take time for yourself to rest and recuperate so you can take care of yourself, too. Respite care from our professional carers in Maida Vale is the ideal way to take a break whilst your loved one is being looked after. Our team will get to know you both and exactly how your loved one likes things done, ensuring that there is a seamless transition when you take leave and they step in. That way, you have peace of mind that your loved one is getting the care they need whilst you’re not there.

The great thing about respite care is that it can delivered as either a live-in care arrangement – where a carer lives with your loved one on a short-term basis while you take some time for yourself – or as hourly visiting care – where our local team in Maida Vale will pop in at agreed times to provide the care and companionship your loved one requires until you return from your break.

Fully-trained professional carers in Maida Vale

With only 2% of all applicants being successful, we pride ourselves on selecting only the very best carers to join our team. To do this, we require at least six month’s professional care experience, as well as an enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check and references. Before they begin caring for our clients, carers are required to complete a five-day induction programme that covers in detail different types of conditions such as dementia and Parkinson’s, the Mental Capacity Act, moving and handling, end-of-life care and first aid, as well as many more modules. The detail and time spent in learning about home care from our in-house experts is why our training goes above and beyond the industry expectations and has also contributed to our ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating.
