Emergency care is for people who need immediate care and support in their own homes from a professional carer. You might need emergency care because your usual carer is unavailable or you need assistance after a fall, accident or sudden hospital discharge.
At The Good Care Group, we know it is difficult for families when there is an emergency relating to care for a loved one. Our high-quality emergency home care services provided by expertly trained and experienced carers can be put in place quickly, often within 24 hours. Peace of mind just when your family needs it.
Here we explore the cost of emergency care and what is included in our emergency care packages so that you and your family can make an informed decision. If you need guidance on your options, our friendly team is just a phone call away.
How much does emergency care cost?
The costs of emergency care at home are determined through a comprehensive home assessment. One of our Care Advisors will meet with you and your family to discuss your care needs and how we can create a holistic care package to meet them. We can usually schedule this care assessment within 24 hours and often on the same day you contact us.
Emergency live-in care from The Good Care Group starts at £1,295 per week for full-time care from six hours a day. Other options are available for different levels of care.
With a better understanding of your exact care and support requirements, we can provide you with transparent pricing for the weekly cost of care – with no hidden costs or extra fees.
The cost of emergency care may be higher than other types of home care services if complex care or clinical care tasks are required. However, it’s important to note that opting for live-in care could still be more cost-effective than domiciliary care, which often requires additional costs for complex care needs.

Available funding for emergency care
To help cover some or all of the costs of your care, you may be entitled to either social care funding provided by your local authority or healthcare funding provided by the NHS.
You may be eligible for funding from your local council to cover the cost of emergency home care depending on your financial circumstances and your care needs. Your local authority will only fund care at home (referred to as social funding) if your assets are worth less than £23,500.
If you have had a care needs assessment and have an identified healthcare need, you may be eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare funding (CHC). This is organised by your local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to support you to receive care in your own home. It is important to note that CHC funding is not means tested, so even if you exceed the threshold for social care funding, you may still be eligible for CHC funding from the NHS.
Many families are faced with having to fund the care they receive themselves (referred to as self-funding care). For these families, there are options to help finance care at home, including a Care Fees Annuity or an Equity Release scheme.
