The Good Care Group have provided excellent live-in care throughout Scotland for over 10 years, thanks to our incredible professional carers and our dedicated head office team based in Edinburgh. We’ve learnt that working as a live-in carer in Scotland provides diverse opportunities, with placements up north in the highlands, cities such as Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen and further south covering Dumfries and Galloway.
At The Good Care Group we want you to be the best carer’s you can be, for that reason we are partnered with Rewards Training so that our professional carers in Scotland can achieve an SVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care, fully funded by us! This training is a requirement for working in Scotland. We will support you with your enrollment and be on hand as, and when you need it. You can find out more here on how we help you develop through the course.
There are many benefits of working as a live-in carer. For Catherine based in Scotland, it’s the opportunity to support clients outside of their homes. Recently Catherine accompanied ‘M’ on an overnight stay in Glasgow, where they went to the theatre to see one of ‘M’’s friends in a play.
“A good friend of hers from the village, who is an actress, was performing in a play in Glasgow. She said to me ” wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could go and see her perform?” So I replied that I would look into it. I don’t think Mary thought it would really be possible. She was quite unwell for a large part of last year. Her daughter and my manager Eilidh were happy for me to take her, so we booked the tickets and chose a hotel!”
Catherine and ‘M’ are now organising their next trip down to Salisbury to see family. They are planning to fly down to England with booked assistance on the plane. With The Good Care Group and ‘M’’s family to assist with the arrangements, we are able to make this happen. In March, Catherine was recognised for her consistent outstanding contribution to support ‘M’. After hearing this wonderful story, we awarded Catherine Carer of the Month.
Our Professional Carer, Catherine said “It’s never too late to do things, and I am all for enabling people to do what they can, and live life to the full! I think it gave her great purpose.”
